daily life // hebert

Like many of you, we’re keeping physical distance from extended family and all our friends. COVID-19 sucks and while we’d like to shout that from the rooftops, the kid thought a more positive message would be helpful to our neighbors.

Inspired by other posts we saw in social media, we thought our living room window would be a great place for such a message. We get many dog walkers and bike riders coming through our little cul-de-sac (it has an access point for the trail that runs all through our neighborhood and town).

After bouncing some ideas around, the kid suggested, “How about the words from when we light our Advent candles?”

While we painted, we talked about how this time, like Advent, was also a time of waiting expectantly. While our family is taking it day by day (minute by minute at times) we’re making the effort to choose to wait with intention and hope in better days ahead.

As adults, that perspective is especially hard since I think most of us are assuming it’s going to get worse before it gets better.

Today though, in this moment, I’m taking a cue from the young ‘un. I should really do that more.

However you’re choosing to wait these days, we pray in the midst of fear and uncertainty (and excessive hand washing), you can find Love and Joy and Hope and Peace.

Be well, friends.

Spent an early evening one day last week with this stellar human. Jenny’s warmth, wit, and open heart make her a damn fine actor and gem of a friend. We got together on a whim to chase the light around the Kalita Humphrey’s Theater in Dallas.
